Our editorial voice has three rules: calm over fear (no countdown clocks, no "you could lose everything" marketing), plain language over jargon (and when jargon is unavoidable, we define it), and honesty over persuasion — including honesty about what varies by state, what we can't know about your case, and when a free consultation with a licensed attorney is genuinely the right move.
Who's behind it
Work Injury Payout is published by Work Injury Payout LLC, an independent company that also builds marketing technology for workers' compensation law firms — which means we've spent years inside this system's data, documents, and outcomes, watching where claims actually go wrong. This site is our education arm: everything on it is free, and none of it requires talking to anyone.
We are not a law firm. Nothing here is legal advice, and reading this site creates no attorney-client relationship. Where we say "a lawyer makes sense here," it's educational context about how the system works — not a referral, and nobody pays us to say it.
How the site makes money
Plainly, because you deserve to know: the education here is free and always will be — no paywalls, no accounts, no ads sold against your attention. The platform is funded one way: when a reader chooses to request a free case review, licensed workers' comp law firms pay us for that introduction. That's it. Reading the site sends us nothing; the tools save only to your own device; and the only information that ever reaches a law firm is what you type into that one form, on purpose, with the arrangement disclosed right on it. Firms pay for introductions — they don't write, edit, or influence a single page of the education, and we'd rather you use the free guides and never talk to anyone than feel pushed. The promises we make
- Every page shows its "Reviewed" date — so you know how fresh the information is. Our editorial standards explain how pages are researched and maintained.
- Your tools run on your device. Checklists, the claim journal, and the Claim Confidence Score™ save to your own browser — we never see them. The only information we ever receive is what you choose to submit through the Free Case Review form. Details in the privacy policy.
- Corrections are welcome and fast. Spot an error — a changed deadline, an outdated phone number, anything? Email hello@workinjurypayout.com and we'll verify and fix it, with priority on anything deadline-related.
- Spanish is a commitment, not a checkbox. Guides, tools, and the glossary keep expanding en español, with the state help lines that actually answer in Spanish.
